The Tribunal of the Inquisition was first established in Cordova in 1482 and comprised a large area of Andalusia, within its jurisdiction, including Granada. Many Conversos were martyred in the city in the 1480’s. The inquisitor for Cordova between the years 1499 and 1509, Diego Rodríguez Lucero had a reputation for cruelty.
