The Pesikta Rabathi Midrashic homilies deal only with selected passages of the Pentateuch, as well as that of the Prophets that constitute the Torah readings for the Festivals. It also contains homilies on readings from the Haftaroth, beginning with the Three Weeks of Mourning followed by the seven weeks from Shabbath Nachamu until Shabbath Shuvah. The date of this compilation is stated in the work itself to be 845 CE. The collected statements in the Rabbathi are in fact drawn from other midrashic compilations, particularly the Tanchuma, and most of its material can be traced to the original souces.
