R. Israel Friedman of Husiatyn (1858-1949) was the grandson of R. Israel of Rizhin. In 1937, he settled in Tel Aviv. When General Rommel’s advance reached Egypt, the Rebbe prayed at the grave of the Or Ha’Chaim, famously assuring his followers that Rommel would not advance further. * R. Jacob Friedman of Bohush was also a descendant of R. Israel of Ruzhyn.* R. David Bornstein of Sochatchav was the son of R. Samuel. His first Rabbinic post was in Visograd. He died in the Warsaw ghetto in 1942.
