Official Report of the proceedings of the St. Petersburg Rabbinical Conference of 1910, convened by special permit of the Government, to assess the state of Eastern Jewry. Among the delegates were such leading Rabbis as Chaim Soloveichik of Brisk, Chaim Ozer Grodzenski of Vilna, Meir Simcha of Dvinsk, The Grand Rabbi of Sokolov, The Grand Rabbi of Radzin and other notables, as well as a progressive element. Shalom Dov-Ba’er Schneerson was the primary instigator in mobilizing the great Rabbis of Russia and Poland together to discuss the essential issues of the day. For details of his feverish preparations and an account of the accompanying political intrigue, see Igroth Kodesh-Resha”b Vols. I-II (1986) and introduction by S.B. Levin.
