The first two volumes of poetry by Imber. Barkai (“Dawn”) contains the first appearance of the poem “Tikvateinu,” unofficial anthem of the early Zionist Movement and later adapted as the national anthem of the State of Israel. For a detailed history of Imber’s historic poem and the course of its evolution, see M. Ravina, Hatikvah (1969).
Imber’s second volume of poetry, printed in his birth-place and issued by his two brothers, re-introduces the poem.
