“The fourth and the last of the great Polyglots; known as the London, or Walton’s Polyglot. The most accurate and best-equipped of the great Polyglots.” Darlow & Moule 1446. This is one of the post-Restoration sets, with the “Loyal” preface in Volume 1, omitting mention of Oliver Cromwell’s role in the duty-free importation of paper for this edition. It does not contain the dedication to Charles II. An earlier “Republican” version of the preface had acknowledged Cromwell’s help at length. WITH: Edmund Castell, Lexicon Heptaglotton. Engraved portrait of Castell. Two parts in one volume. Together, 7 volumes. Darlow & Moule note that this is “often bound uniformly with, and as a supplement to, this Polyglot Bilble, they really form an essential part of the work”
