R. Ya’akov Bezalel Zolti (1920-82) served as the Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. A student of Jerusalem’s Etz Chaim and Chevron Yeshivahs, he was appointed to Jerusalem’s Supreme Beth Din at aged only 35 years, just after the present work was published. Zolty’s subsequent election as Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem was seen as a referendum of sorts on Chief Rabbi Shlomo Goren’s controversial ruling in the Langer case, which Zolty had vehemently protested against.
