<<A Valuable Insight into the Publishing Process of the Yismach Moishe's Works, Prepared by the Yitev Lev.>> R. Moishe Teitelbaum (the Yismach Moishe, 1759-1841) recorded his Torah thoughts as soon as they came to him, with whatever writing material he had available in the time. Following his death, the Yismach Moishe's grandson, R. Yekuthiel Yehuda Teitelbaum (the Yitev Lev), inherited decades-worth of miscellaneous papers and pages of all sizes. The Yitev Lev subsequently employed a scribe to transcribe and topically organize this trove of thousands notes in order to prepare them for publication. The Yitev Lev then added his own sources and edits for the printer. In this way, the Yismach Moishe's substantial works on the Torah were published between the years 1848-1861. <<The variety of the content in the present folio leaf highlights just how massive this undertaking was, with negligible scraps of paper saved from oblivion.>> When pulled away by his own multiple rabbinic responsibilities, the Yitev Lev entrusted the Yismach Moishe's manuscripts to his grandson, R. Moishe Dovid Teitelbaum of Laposh. Thus, these pages were <<the basis for sharing the Yismach Moishe's works with the Jewish world>> with his original text, and subsequent autograph edits by his descendants. <<R. Moishe Teitelbaum>> (the Yismach Moishe, 1759-1841) of Ujel (Sátoraljaújhely), is renowned for spreading the Chassidic revolution throughout Hungary. Initially opposed to the movement, he subsequently became a disciple of R. Ya'akov Yitzchak Horowitz, the Choizeh of Lublin. His own descendants would form some of Hungary's most significant Chassidic courts, including Satmar and Sighet. <<R. Yekuthiel Yehuda Halberstam>> (the Yitev Lev, 1808-83) of Sighet, was the grandson of the Yismach Lev and inherited his grandfather's writings. He dedicated many years to editing them, a formidable task when coupled with the operation of his own substantial Chassidic court. <<R. Moishe Dovid Teitelbaum>> (the Volover Rebbe, 1855-1935) of Laposh, was the grandson of the Yitev Lev. Dedicated to his family heritage, he published many of the Yismach Moishe's works, as well as manuscripts of his grandfather, the Yitev Lev.
