R. Dovid Moshe Friedman (1828-1903) was the son of R. Yisrael of Ruzhin and the progenitor of Chortkov Chassidus. Following in the regal footsteps the Rebbe's father, the Chortkov court was established in a palace, and everything within it exuded opulence. The Chortkover was known for his intense love of every fellow Jew, as well as his passion for the Land of Israel (referenced within the eulogy).
