Notably, the Mediteranean and Dead seas are mentioned in Hebrew in addition to Latin. Jean Le Clerc was a radical theologian whose critiques of the Bible eventually drove him out of Geneva. The present map is from the second edition of his Biblical commentary (Amsterdam, 1710).
