For a number of years during the 1960’s and 1970’s, the Satmar Rebbe spent the winter months in Miami Beach. There, he resided in the home of a well-to-do follower and former Sigheter, Mr. Alexander Moskovitz. The Rebbe had his own annex in the house and on the floor between the Rebbe’s bedroom and his study and receiving-room, lay this antelope rug. After the Rebbe passed away, a Moskovitz relative took the rug and fashioned from it this Tefillin-bag. The intention being that the rug had a special quality to it due to the saintly Rebbe having walked across it so often, oftentimes while in a state of spiritual ecstasy. <<Provenance:>> From the estate of the individual who crafted the bag. (Names and further details will be provided to the successful bidder).
