Prayer by Henry Jacobs, resident of Annotto Bay, located along the northeast coast of the island of Jamaica. No historical record of Henry J. Jacobs has been located. This heartfelt blessing written for his baby son, is his only material legacy. See Barnett & Wright, The Jews of Jamaica: Tombstone Inscriptions (1997) p. 114 for a record of the death in 1862 of his wife, Judith Jacobs. Jewish settlement in this Caribbean island is a history of brave entrepreneurs who created a successful bridge between the Old World and the New.
