The chief goal of this work is to defend Aggadic passages from the threat of censorship, by explaining them in a way that was palatable to the Christian censors. Safed-born Jacob Luzzatto (16th century) settled in Basle, moving onto Posen and then Cracow, all the while, he worked at a number of Hebrew printing establishments.
