Son of Rabbi Nathan Lewin of Rohatyn, R. Aharon Levin (1879-1941), in his role as an influential member of the Agudath Israel, developed to become one of the leaders of Polish Jewry up to World War Two. He was murdered alongside his brother Yechezkel Lewin by Ukrainian Fascists.
