J. Levenbach and J. Epstein call a meeting seeking to establish a daily Hebrew newspaper which they saw as an important desideratum in establishing America as a center of world Jewry. The public is here implored to come to 52 St. Marks Place in “the Zionist neighborhood downtown” and help make a Hebrew daily a reality. Their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, for the honor of establishing America’s first Hebrew daily goes to Moses Goldman in 1909.
