The commentary of the Vilna Gaon on the Shulchan Aruch was written with the utmost brevity. The editor here expands upon the Gaon’s final decisions as he understands them. The great Lithuanian rabbis greatly praise this work in their approbations. It is related in the name of R. Aaron Kotler that the author became blind as he composed this work, but after praying alongside the Gaon’s grave, his sight was restored.
