Sermon preached by Denmark’s Chief Rabbi, Abraham Alexander Wolf, following the death of Queen Caroline Amalie. The sermon focuses upon the passage in the Books of Joel that reads: ‘Rend your hearts rather than your garments’ (Joel 2:13). No less a sign of mourning would be expected from the historically integrated and patriotic Danish-Jewish community.
