One of the most comprehensive commentaries to the Song of Songs. The author interprets these oft enigmatic verses in many differing styles, from Peshat to citations from the Zohar. Contains two important approbations and introductions from two of the greatest scholars of Safed: Elisha Gallico and Moshe b. Machir. <<Exceptionally rare.>> Not seen nor cited by Yosef Y. Rivlin in his pioneering article Letoldot HaDefus B’Eretz Yisrael Ube’Suria in: Mizrach U’Maariv, Vol. I, pp. 104-9. The third of only six Hebrew books printed in Safed before printing ceased, not to be resumed for some 250 years. All six of these volumes were printed by the Family Aschkenazi over a course of ten years. See A.J. Karp. From the Ends of the Earth: Judaic Treasures of the Library of Congress (1991) pp.17-18.
